Moving – at least on the web

No, I’m not moving to a new house. I’m not changing stores either. But I am moving my blog to a new home. I took the plunge and paid for my own domain as well as a webhost. There are some things I want to do with my blog and website that I couldn’t do as easily in this format.

Eventually I plan on having an entry page so navigating to the other pages on the site I’m going to add will be easy. Matter of fact that’s in my plans for this weekend. I don’t want to lose people who just type in my designer name.

Store Temporarily Down and a RAK chance

Stuff to Scrap is undergoing some updates and is down temporarily. I’ll post here and on Facebook once it is back up and going again.

New stuff and a Freebie

It’s been a while! School starting back has kept me away. I’m looking for that balance between teaching, motherhood, and a little time for preserving my family’s memories while also helping you do the same.

There has been so much going on the past few weeks that I barely know where to start. Let me start off first showing you my new kit called Fun Lovin’. It was inspired by my CTM Dj with bright fun colors and doodled elements.

Please Pardon the Dust

Things are going fast and furious around my world. All summer we worked on home improvement stuff. Then before I knew it we were getting ready for a new school year. My classroom was ready to greet a whole new year of fabulous students and then things just went crazy.

I have barely come up for air for 2 weeks. Things will settle down soon I hope.

The dust I mentioned above is my blog reconstruction. I’m going to be doing some work on it for the next few weeks. Some of you have noticed the Blog Frog Community on the right. Thank you to those that have already joined my community. I plan on hosting at least one Speed Scrap a month over there as well as some other things.

You may see some broken links on the site as I redesign things. I’ve also noticed that there are some missing graphics from time to time. Some things that I post are to help my fellow designers. If something fails on their end there may be a graphic error. Sorry about that!

That box over there on the right hand side that says BlogFrog? Susan you don’t even like bugs or frogs right? Well frogs are cute as long as I don’t have to touch them. And I do like to listen to them on a limited basis on vacations and in the spring and late summer if I can open the windows (which in Texas means March, April, and October maybe).

But BlogFrog is an opportunity to take my blog to the next level and turn it into an interactive community with all of you! I’ve been playing along with SuzyQ Scraps in her community for a few months. I tried to get this up and going last month but there was a glitch. Tonight I figured it out. The glitch was my typing!! Yes, I made a typo in my blog address so my BlogFrog community was broken. :( It’s all fixed now and everything it working perfectly! Yipee!!! So, click on the link, join my community and jump into the conversation. I started one in there already and I’d love to hear your answers.

I think I’m going to try some new things out there over the next few months. Yes, I’m all over the place. My friend Robin said today she was following me around digiland. She has no idea where I’ll take her next! That’s what keeps us going, right? The surprises?

Where oh Where?

Wow this month has flown by! My house is finally semi-back in order after almost a full month of home improvements that included lots and lots of painting. Yes, I have to say it I only helped paint one room. My wonderful husband painted the ceilings throughout the house, crown molding for the living room, 2 bathrooms and 2 bedrooms. The rest of the house has been painted along the way over the past 2 years so all it needs is some touch ups here and here – like where Rachel decided walls make a great writing surface. :( Kids they all do that, right? At least all 3 of mine have at some point.

We still have one piece of crown molding to paint and get put up. We had help with getting the crown molding cut and put into place. Unfortunately the living room has the odd angles and this one "window” that’s not a window…..you would have to see it to know what I’m talking about. Anyway it made that one piece a pain to get right so the guy helping us decided he was going to have to come back and work on that one piece.

School starts back for my DH and I as teachers soon. With the way things are planned out for my campus I actually need to spend some time the next 2 weeks getting my room ready. Yay! More cleaning and reorganizing. PFFFFT!! Yes, that was a raspberry. Last year I cleaned for a week before I could even begin to organize. Those rooms get so yucky during the summer!! I would take a shower before leaving home and have to take one when I got back just to get the grime off of me. Why then take one before going? I can’t stand going out in public messy – it’s just something I can not do.

Now, I know this post started very differently than my others. I decided that it was time for me to start to let you get to know the real me. Why not?

Now on to the scrapping world. I think you will want to know about this speed scrap going on at Stuff to Scrap because it’s TODAY! Sorry for the late notice. I went to bed before the info made it’s way to me.

Stars and Stripes and a FREEBIE

I’ve been going through a dry spell creativity-wise and time-wise. Things this summer just got a lot more hectic than I ever envisioned! First there was our wonderful family vacation that went from being one week to nearly two weeks long. It was good to get away but we were ready to be home by the end. Then there have been workshops that both my husband and I have needed to attend (still not totally done with those either). Then in the wisdom of the ages that we have we’ve been tackling some much needed home improvement jobs. We’re into week three of painting. Can anyone say TIRED? My kids have been trying but there comes a time that everyone needs a break.

Finally last week I got into the zone and created a new kit called Stars and Stripes. I really like the way it turned out. I started off with Independence Day in mind but then as I worked I realized that I have several scrapping friends and CTM’s that are from other countries. So the kit stayed with the same theme but evolved to be more versatile so that it can be used for many other layouts. Like that layout? It’s using my new kit and a template from Scraps of Ellay’s new template set Start Me Up Templates.

Do you like the new detail previews? DigiOverdose has a new preview action called PreviewIt that makes that part so much easier for me.

My CT got busy creating some wonderful layouts with this kit.

Stuff to Scrap News

If you go to Stuff to Scrap and you notice layouts missing or posts missing you are not going crazy. The host migrated the site to a new bigger server last night unexpectedly and in the process about 24 hours worth of things was lost.

If you did a layout for a challenge and it’s now missing please go back and re-upload (we want you to get full credit!). At least we only lost about 24 hours of information and the webhost is trying to make us better and faster instead of allowing the site to crash before addressing our needs.

In other news for the Stuff to Scrap store check out the new options for the store newsletter in this thread HERE. I love the way you can choose the information sent to you. Of course if you are like me you want it all.

I’ll be back with some news about IvoryKeys Digital Dreams soon. I’ve been working hard on some goodies and they are almost done. I can’t hardly wait!

Just a little note

Vacation was fabulous! Some of the scenery we saw was breathtaking. I miss the mountains. We did make it home safely even though there were a few scary moments with other drivers around that didn’t maintain control of their vehicles.

My laptop only came out three times during the trip. Internet was sketchy last night so I finally just gave up. Now that I’m back to the world of technology that works like it should most of the time I would like to invite you to sign up for my Newsletter. I just love teaming up with my good friend LoriAnn from Scraps of Ellay. Today we’re releasing our newest mega collab called Muddy Girlies. Not too long ago we teamed up and did a great grungy boy kit called Muddy Buddies. This is the more “girly” version with all new papers and elements. As a bonus we’ve thrown in the cardstocks as part of the mega.

Scrappin’ Time

This time of year I seem to hardly have time to breathe! There’s one thing after with either my school, my husband’s school (which is also our oldest daughter’s school), our son’s school, not to mention my son’s b-day, end of the year rush to get all our “teacher” stuff finished up, etc. Whew! That made me tired just typing that out.

I was thrilled to have a little bit of time to actually scrap some this weekend. I was asked today what I do with my layouts by a fellow teacher. I told her that I want to print some of them out into albums someday but it’s going to be a while. Until then I use them as screen savers, play them in my digital photo frame (which reminds me I still need to update my DH’s), and share them via the web with family and friends. What’s holding me back you ask? Well, the fact is I don’t scrap chronologically. I don’t even have a single event scrapped completely to the point where I’m ready to put it into an album. I scrap photos that speak to me. Sometimes a kit will make a certain photo or series come to mind, sometimes a challenge at one of my favorite scrapping sites will spark a layout, and sometimes I’m just in the mood for certain photos.

With that long winded explanation out of the way here are a couple of layouts I did this weekend.

This one was for the template challenge at STS but what made me pick these photos was the kit. Living in the part of Texas that we do my kids don’t see lots of mountains and big trees. So when we visit other states they are often amazed by the beautiful scenery. Scenery that my DH and I grew up with and at the time took for granted. This kit is Bears Eat Beets (Revamped) by Scraps of Ellay. If you have her original Bears Eat Beets you should totally check this one out. It’s so deep and rich and yes, so different from her original kit.

Another layout I finished up this weekend was using a new kit by DaniMoy Designs called Forever You.

At first I was thinking something with one of the girls but for some reason these photos of when my son was little kept popping in my head. Yeah, this one may never get printed but I love it all the same. It’ll be one just for me, the Mom. I keep hoping that one of my 3 will have the desire to take piano lessons and stick with it like I did. Maybe not be a music specialist but at least enjoy playing.

It has been a while since I scrapped with a kit from SuzyQ Scraps. She got together with fellow designer AnnaBV and designed a kit near and dear to my other obsession – Music! It’s called Music In Your Heart.

Again, it was one of those, something kept calling me back to these photos. Man these two sweet little ones don’t look like that anymore. They are growing up way too fast! Where did time go from when they played dress up and pretended to have a recital?

So now it is time for me to head off to dreamland because tomorrow my boy will be graduating…no, he’s not a genius who just skipped 12 grades. LOL Though that might be a nice thing if he wanted to support me…… Sorry, back to reality I come. He’ll be graduating from Kindergarten. I’ve had to be very specific and explain that while graduation is tomorrow he still has one more week of Kindergarten. That he’s not coming to my school the next day as a first grader. That didn’t set very well with him, because he just knew he was going to be with his Mom. Poor guy. Tomorrow will be a double exciting day. His b-day is tomorrow too! So many changes in such a short amount of time.

So Happy – NEW kit

With all the excitement of iNSD weekend I forgot to blog about my newest kit. Thank goodness I have the best CT around who help me in my moments of forgetfulness!

My newest kit is called So Happy. It is a retro girly doodly kit that would be perfect for the tweens in your life. This kit was inspired by my oldest daughter who is at that wonderful in between stage where she’s not quite a teen but yet too “old” to be considered “little” anymore. It’s a fun yet exasperating stage!

I truly meant to get this to you before now. I’ve been working on stuff all weekend to give away, but I found that I kept running into the same problem time and time again. Life has a way of coming at you full force without warning. That’s what I feel like the past few weeks have been like. I’m sorry that I’ve been pretty much MIA. Apparently I’ve had a horrible allergic reaction to something and all the medicine I’m taking to combat the problem has made me so tired that I’ve not accomplished much of anything.

But, that’s not why you are here. You didn’t come to hear me whine or complain. So enough of the sour side of life. I have a few news items from STS to share. I like to know things ahead of time so I can mark my calendar. :)

Muddy Buddies Collab

I have been sitting on pins and needles waiting to share this kit with you! I got the awesome opportunity to team up with Lori Ann (Scraps of Ellay) who is one of my all time favorite designers and great friend. When she asked me if I wanted to do a kit together I could hardly wait! We quickly decided that we wanted to do a kit just for the boys this time around and with all the snow and rain we’ve had this winter thinking dirty wasn’t hard! Matter of fact once we got started we had a hard time figuring out when to stop. It quickly became a Mega Kit with 26 papers, 66 unique elements, and 1 full alpha with numbers and some symbols. I know I’ve been sporadic lately in my blogging. Life sometimes goes at a crazy pace! I know it’s the same way for a lot of you. Sometimes the craziness of life drains my creativity to the point I cry out for something, anything to get me going again. Good news for me and anyone out there like me there are tons of great challenges out there that can provide that spark.

Often times when someone says the word challenges I think of the store forums I like to hang out at. Stuff to Scrap, Scrapbook Bytes, Scrap Orchard, DigiScraps Drive In, Enchanted Studio Scraps, and Scrapable all jump to the front of my mind as great forums where there are always fantastic challenges to get you going on what is sure to be a favorite layout on down the line. These sites and many others offer great incentives to completing their challenges too.

If you frequent your favorite designer’s blogs you’ll often find them hosting a contest or challenge to get your digital inspiration kicked up into gear too. Here’s a good example from SuzyQ Scraps’ blog. Hurry and take a look – this one ends today 3/13 at 11:59 pm. If I wasn’t a part of her CT I would jump on this one, the prizes for participating are awesome!

So this may be a pretty long post. You may want to take care of all necessary business before going any further. You know, make sure the kids are entertained, go to the bathroom, get a snack/drink for yourself….etc.

I did this layout using Scraps of Ellay’s new kit Peculiar Dreams and BTA’s Simply Simple Templates

Those photos were of Rachel on her b-day. She really wasn’t in a grumpy/thoughful/reflective mood but at the time the camera flashed this was what I got. You never know what look you’re going to get with her!

Here is another layout I did with Peculiar Dreams but I used Eally’s template set called Help Me Help You. The title says looking ahead but really I was looking back. I have wanted a fresh layout with these photos from when Hannah started preschool. I can’t believe she’s already in the 3rd grade now. On top of that this school year is nearly 4/6 over with!

I did this layout using Sunkissed Collab by A+ Designs and Dani Moy Designs and BTA’s Template Pack 9. I love these photos from one of our weekend get aways with the kids.

Mel of A+ Designs has this brand new collab kit available called Festive Euphony that is just gorgous! I did this layout with another one of BTA’s templates. This one can be found at DSDI in their collab called Outback.

This layout also used Festive Euphony and one of A+ Designs Templistic: Euphony templates. Yes, I’m randomly scrapping photos lately. These are of Rachel when she was only 3 months old.

Yes, I still scrap without using templates but these ladies were rocking out kits fast and furiously. This is only a small taste of what they’ve been up to. I also have some to share soon from SuzyQ Scraps and Dani Moy.

I hope some of these layouts have been an inspiration to you! Someone asked me why I don’t scrap chronologically. I am inspired by the kits I get. Sometimes I know just the photo I want to use. Have I finished a book yet? No, but I have layouts that are going into my children’s baby books, I have layouts that are going into my revolving family album and will eventually go into a chronological album, and I have many that grace the multiple computers in our lives.

So scrap the way you feel best at and I’ll scrap my way and we’ll all be happy in the end. Sounds good! Come back soon to see what else has been up!

I first want to say thank you for everyone that stopped by the past couple of days to pick up my paper pack. I really enjoy making digital scrapbook items for you to scrap your precious memories with whether it is to print out or to see in some other form such as a digital frame or a screen saver.

I also want to apologize for the color problems in the NewSpring paper pack. I thought I had QC’d them but I was tired, distracted, and in a hurry to get them up for you that I obviously didn’t check them as close as I normally do. So today I rechecked them and fixed the colors so they should print just fine. If you aren’t going to print what you make then the other papers will be just fine but if you are like most digital scrappers you will possibly want to print what you make so you’ll want to download this updated pack.

Thoughts of Spring

With March being just around the corner my mind has already turned to Spring. I love springtime. The new growth all around, the longer daylight hours, the chance to go outside and not burn up. Here in Texas these Spring days are all too short lived. By the time school is out in June it is hot, hot, and hot. So like all the new plants I soak up the Spring air and enjoy it while it lasts.

When I got my hands on Color With Caryn’s two new CU overlay packs I knew I was going to do something with Spring in mind. Never mind that I have 350 photos of the recent snow of the century here in Texas to scrap. LOL

So I took these overlays which are available today at Color With Caryn’s DSW store:

I had almost forgotten that I did this layout a couple of weeks ago using DaniMoy’s new kit, Mel’s Secret Hideaway. When I saw the paper I used for the background I knew I had to use it. It called to me. I remember making dandelion wishes and watching as the wind picked up the fluff and carried it away. I just knew there was a poem or WA out there that would explain my thoughts as I remembered those days. I searched and searched on evening and came up empty handed. Then I realized that I should be trying to put my thoughts down instead of wasting time.

Wednesday – just barely

This week has flown by! I don’t know where my time has been slipping off to. Our youngest little one was sick most of this past week and I think it wore all us big people out. Now that she’s feeling better I’m out of energy.

What have I not shown you? Let me go look……

Gracious! I think I have been a little behind sharing things.

I made this layout this weekend with a beautiful kit by Lizz Gasaway called Bella.

The papers in this kit are beautiful! And of course you can pick this kit up at MBH.

I also found myself a little short on time and creativity this week. Lucky for me, BTA Designs has a great new template set called Blocked Templates1 in all her stores so putting together that layout was a breeze!

SuzyQ Scraps has a new kit out that is totally adorable and perfect for those special loving monster pics of your little ones. Love Monsters is available at her Scrap Orchard store. As well as a coordinating alpha called Fuzzy Love Monster Alpha. You can see both in this layout.

I haven’t forgotten DaniMoy, Mel, or Scraps of Ellay. I’ve been a little busy with my lead CT duties for Me and Ellay and doing some behind the scene scrapping for all 3. Projects are in the works for all 3 that I’ll be able to share with you soon. I should have some layouts that I can share in the next day or two from them. :) I know you’ve been missing them.

I do have some big news that I can share. Color With Caryn had a unique CT Call this week that I felt drawn to apply for. I really was surprised when she invited me to be part of her CT working with her CU stuff. I am thrilled beyond belief! This is great for you because it means I’ll be creating all sorts of goodies to share with you!

This week Caryn has a new Glitter Mega pack out that I love! You can find them at her DSW store. Just click on the preview to see this as well as her Krafty Styles and Chrome Alpha. All these are CU products but can be added to any PU layout too!

I used it to create a little element pack for you. the preview says 7 elements – I forgot to change it when I added the flower stem, so there are actually 8 elements. I’m really too tired tonight to fix it. I hope you’ll overlook it this one time.

Monday Monday

I definitely appreciated having today off. I didn’t get as much accomplished as I had intended but that’s okay.

I have been playing with a lot of new kits by the designer’s I CT for. Let me tell you there are some beautiful kits coming your way in the near future. I’m thoroughly blown away by the diversity of the kits. Each one drawing you to a special layout (or more) that you want to create. Sometimes it’s just the creative release and others….it’s all about the memories that down the road of time will tug at your family’s heartstrings.

Ready…..set…go….

Lizz Gasaway has a cute kit that’s got a bit of Love and denim in it called Darling Denim at her MissBeeHaven store.

I got two special layouts done with this one. The first was of this cute picture I got of Rachel one day at the park. I was just snapping random “in the moment” photos (which happen to be my favorite) and saw her going towards this little boy. OMgoodness it was too cute! I’m so glad I got this photo of that sweet innocence - blackmail for those teen years.

Then I wanted to document the day she got her big girl bed. I get the greatest expressions from her and Nate. I swear they are camera hogs. On this layout I also used one of BTA Design’s Simple Templates 1 (Journey 365). Scrapping multiple photos intimidates me, I think I’ve said that before, but with these templates the ideas seemed to pour out and the process was painless (relatively).

Here’s another layout using a different template from that set were I was capturing Jan – June of 2009 for Nate.

I used a bunch of things from SuzyQ Scraps for that layout. Part of her Journey 365 Jumbo, Date Me: Rainbow (date labels), Cardstock Stash all that can be found at her Scrap Orchard Store.

DaniMoy Designs opened up her new store at Scrapbook-Bytes this weekend and already has a lot of lovely kits in there. There is a new one called Brrr that I just love! These photos were from our Christmas Day right before present time. I was thrilled to get a good photo (several actually) of all 3 kids. That doesn’t happen very often in one sitting.

That layout went together easy peasy with the help of a template by Scraps of Ellay from her Dress Me Up Template set.

That leaves me with A+ Designs. Well, I’ve taken the lead CT role for her and have been a little busy organizing things so I can keep up with all the gorgeous kits she has out. Not to say I haven’t scrapped with them myself just some of them are still having to stay under wraps. I do have this one though that I did with her new Full of Grace collection available at her Scrapbook-Bytes Store as well as one of her templates from the Templistic: Bells Will Be Ringing set.

Wonder if I’ll manage to get that much done this next week? No probably not but I sure had a blast this week. What story will you scrap next? Will it be through pictures, journaling, or both? I tend to do more with photos but I’m working on the journaling aspect. That’s one of my scrapping goals for this year – improve my journaling.

Looking back

Part of what I love about digi-scrapping is being able to go back and remember things as I put a layout together. The little moments of life that I once captured in a photo (or a few photos). No, I haven’t finished and printed an album yet. But I’ve scrapped memories that I will print out and have in a working album.

What makes this different than just printing out the photos and placing them in an album? What happens when someone needs a photo for some project? Those are questions that I’ve been asked on this journey I started a year ago. Here is what my mind has decided for now. Question 1 – these layouts hold meaning to me. My family has connected over these and many times the layouts help tell a story even without the journaling (but that is something this year I’m going to work on). It’s an artistic outlet for me to create layouts using my favorite in the moment photos. Question 2 – I think as my kids look through these layouts they’ll remember the photos even better because there is more of a story with each one. So when the time comes that they need a specific photo they’ll be able to tell me which one they want a lot easier (or show me the layout with it). I have a system of organizing my digital photos so it won’t be hard to find the one they are looking for. Well, that is except for one set that for some reason even I still have to search for them.

With that said, when I saw this kit by Scraps of Ellay I knew exactly which photos I wanted to use. These photos of my boy when he was little have always cried out to me to be used in something. Now, granted the photos were taken two digital cameras ago so the resolution was smaller and the clarity was different than the “now” photos I have been taking. But isn’t that the same as looking back on the photos of when you were a kid versus the photos your family took when you were a teenager? (Now don’t even get started on age – it doesn’t matter!)

I adore how this turned out. Nate loved playing in the tub – honestly still does, sometimes we have to give him a time limit that he has to get out or he might turn into a prune.

Winterlicious AddOn

Well Winter break is over. Tomorrow I have to return to the real world and get back to work. It sure was nice to have this time at home. Today was one of those busy days where we were all getting things ready to head back to school. You know the drill, check to make sure everything gets back into the kids’ backpacks, write any notes that need to be written, make sure there is plenty to make lunches with, check to make sure everyone has their school clothes ready, clean up and throw away all sorts of junk that has accumulated over the past couple of weeks that really no one will notice that it’s gone (shh don’t tell them that some of those mismatched junk toys from Sonic are now gone, I’ve been trying for months to make them disappear), oh and who could forget checking lesson plans to make sure I really do know what I’m doing tomorrow.

This week itself has been busy and I finished playing with a new collab kit that Scraps of Ellay has out with Katie of Always Be Neighbors Designs called Goodfellas. It is inspired by the Godfather movies and of course Goodfellas. Since I never really watched those movies I wasn’t sure what I was going to do. But this kit is even great to scrap some layouts on the gentle side of life.

Hannah is our little artist. Just last night she drew using the mouse an awesome poodle and then a duck swimming in a pond. For being computer generated and using a mouse I was floored! I should turn her loose with my Wacom tablet and see what she comes up with. Probably a lot better than me! I also used some Elegant WordArt by Bethany for that layout. Inspiration and a Freebie

Today passed in a blur. I know I was busy but what did I do besides clean house and chase my kiddos all day?! I meant to have this ready early today. One thing led to another and now it’s 10:00 p.m. and I’m just getting around to blogging about it.

Before I get to the freebie I have a very special kit to tell you about. Special Olympics holds a dear place in my heart because of some of the students I teach. I see all the kids in the elementary school I teach at and that includes two classes of wonderful special needs children. These kids are the ones who come into my classroom so innocent and unassuming. They grasp life with both hands and it is such a joy to watch them enjoy life to the fullest. Even at the tender age of 6, 7, 8 , 9 they don’t let life’s circumstances hold them back. Special Olympics gives them the freedom to feel that moment of success and pride that the world often tries to take away or diminish in some way. They don’t see the world like we do, often times I think we would all be better off if we could view the world through their eyes even if it was just for a little while.

Scraps of Ellay has created a kit called Never Give Up that she is donating all the proceeds for to Special Olympics from now through Feb. 5th, 2010. It is a bright, cheerful, and fun kit that would be a great addition to any scrapping stash.

I totally meant to have this to you yesterday. I started off with good intentions but I just didn’t get everything together. So instead of a Christmas gift you’ll be getting an after Christmas gift. I hope you don’t mind too much. I really think this was worth the wait anyway.

I started making this for the ESS Color Challenge and then it just kept growing and I couldn’t stop! I hope you all enjoy creating with this kit as much as I enjoyed making the kit for you.

Before I show you the kit I want to share a few layouts made with the kit. Lori of Scraps of Ellay offered to make a layout for me (I love my CT boss!).

And here is one I finished up today. We actually got snow on Christmas Eve here in our part of Texas. First of all we hardly ever see snow, second the last time we saw any winter weather on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day was in 2000 when our oldest DD was 2 months old! My 3 children had never seen snow at Christmas at home. The snow didn’t last long – probably because it was 70 degrees the day before but it sure was pretty coming down.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! I love this time of year, it has to be one of my favorite times of the year even with the craziness and hectic schedules we have for the next 3 weeks.

I haven’t been blogging lately because I keep falling asleep at my computer. My ankle is a “little” improved but has a long way to go.

Last week and this past weekend I did scrap with a whole bunch of new kits by my favorite designers. Let me show you a few.

Scraps of Ellay has a new kit in her Stuff to Scrap store called Fall Softly Snow. It is beautiful! Perfect for scrapping your winter photos that aren’t necessarily Christmas related but also great of Christmas photos too!

A+ Designs has a new kit lovingly named Christum by one of her girls for sale at her Enchanted Studio Scraps store. The gorgeous elements blew me away. I chose to use the blue/sliver side of this kit but am so drawn to the red/green/gold side of the kit I know I’m going to be making some more layouts before long with it.

Did you hear that SuzyQ Scraps moved to Scrap Orchard? I got to use her new holiday kit called Jolly Holiday and let me tell you it is adorable! I know there is so much more to this kit than I managed to pull together – I worked with it on one of the days when I just wasn’t feeling my best. But I know you will love this kit too!

I have another holiday kit sitting in my EHD that is calling my name to get busy and scrap with it and I’m going to tomorrow night. When I get done I’ll put it up for you to see. Oh and a little birdie told me that Scraps of Ellay has one more holiday kit up her sleeve that you aren’t going to want to miss.

Just a little inspiration

Quick update on my ankle. One of the ligaments is completely torn so that means I’ll have to have surgery to get it fixed. Don’t know when yet, still waiting to hear from the doctor’s office.

On a happier note I’ve had some time to scrap and some other things too. Scraps of Ellay has a new kit out called Just Scrap It available at Stuff to Scrap that is full of fun! I had a hard time choosing what to use in this layout because there were things I hated to pass up. I’ll be revisiting this kit soon to create more goodies with it.

First let me apologize to those of you who have heard this story. You may skip this post if you would like. :) I’m going to make a scrapping related post shortly after this one goes up.

You would think I would know better, show some common sense. I’ve never been the daredevil type, always hanging back in the background. Apparently Monday I took leave of my senses all together.

Monday morning I was participating in a behavior reward incentive thing for my 1st and 2nd graders. The school rented this huge inflatable obstacle course thing with a rope/climbing wall at the end that you are suppose to scale and then go down the slide.

Now, I’ve explained that I'm not a spring chicken and but I'm also well known for being one of the world’s clumsiest people However with that said I'm a team player and thought, come on I can do this. Well, I got all the way to the last two foam square things to go over the wall and ran out of rope to pull myself over. I tried to grab over the wall but there wasn't anything to grab. I then proceeded to fall and landed on my right ankle. This earned me a trip to the ER, an air brace, pain meds, and one very grotesque ankle/foot.

I’ve been home since around noon on Monday. Trying to behave, man does that hurt. I won’t post the photos here but if you just have to see what my foot looks like about 48 hours after the fact look HERE and HERE and HERE.

I’ve gotten some scrapping done, so that’s a good use of my time right? I’ll be back in a few with some scrap stuff.

What’s new

Our house has been full of sickness this past week but I’m hoping we are all on the road to recovery. However I have had time to create a few layouts that I hope will provide some inspiration for you.

First, there is this one using a new kit that will be released as a freebie this week on Scraps of Ellay’s blog. The papers will be available beginning tomorrow morning.

I love this photo of my DH and our youngest DD. It show’s the amazing bond they have and the absolute joy she brings into our lives each day.

I also made a layout with a special kit by SuzyQ Scraps called And Many More {Pastels}. She has 3 of these kits that are more than just different from the colors – each one has some unique elements and papers and you can mix and match with them. They are also in a bundle pack for a couple more days.

I’ve got a few more layouts in the works, but I have a hint for all of you. If you participate in the challenges at ESS you can earn points to pick up parts or part of the CAC kit from your favorite designers. This next month’s CAC is beautiful! I’ve seen part by A+ Designs and got to work with it and it is gorgeous! Of course you can just purchase the parts you want out right from the designers. Most parts are $2.00 each unless it is a bundle (which if you like all the parts by a designer then the bundle would be the best way to go). This way you can just get the parts you really want. Start warming up your PayPal account or get cracking on those challenges or maybe do some of both. You’ll be glad you did!

Speaking of challenges I really need to get going for now. I saw some good challenges over at ESS and STS that I want to work on today while I have a few minutes. See you around digiland!

Slacker…or not

Okay I’m really not a slacker. I’ve been running on low energy for several weeks now and lost my mojo on top of that. I think I found a little of my mojo this weekend though and I have a few layouts to share.

Scraps of Ellay and Scrappy Cocoa have teamed up and have a collab called Wild Wild West. Here is a layout I did with just Ellay’s portion of the kit.

There’s a new designer @ ESS and I am really excited to be part of her debut! Starry Eyed Designs is now open and she has a charity kit for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society called Hope, Faith, Strength. This is a cause near to my heart. My Dad passed away in 2004 after a 3 year battle with a rare form of leukemia that has no cure still today. He passed away just one week before our son was born. When Amy created this kit I knew I wanted to create a layout in tribute of my Dad.

This has to be one of my favorite photos of my Dad and our oldest daughter when she was about 20 months old. He adored her and I know if he were alive today all 3 of my children would be spoiled beyond belief. His love for his family surpassed everything except for his love of God and what God asked of him.

Then there is this layout I did using SuzyQ Scraps template kit called Pic Attack Vol. 1. I resisted at first because multiple photo layouts intimidate me. But we took a family trip and I got tons of photos that were screaming “Do something with me already!” Perfect venue for scrapping lots of photos at one time.

What kit did I use? Oh, a bit of this one and that one from SuzyQ Scraps. A lot came from various pieces of Life’s Journey. If you really want to know find my gallery @ Polka Dot Plum (easy, it’s IvoryKeys) or DSA. The links are all there for you to click on and explore.

That’s all for tonight. I really am getting out of this slump I’ve been in. I think it’s about time for a blog redesign too. Gotta give that some thought. Something elegant or something cheerful? Not really sure at the moment.

I’ve got some for you today. Scraps of Ellay has some fabulous deals for you. She’s retiring 4 of her older kits from the store at the end of the month and she’s got them all for sale for $2.00 each.

My favorite is Butterflies Are Free with Child’s Play taking second place. If you have any Back to School photos that still need scrapping check out Child’s Play.

Ellay also has this fabulous kit called Cosmic Charlie available in her store that I’ve enjoyed so much that I made 3 layouts. The papers in this mega kit blow me away!

Such variety! I have just scratched the surface of this kit.

SuzyQ Scraps has a template pack called StoryTellers Vol 1 that will get you scrapping those photos in no time at all.

My scrapping time has been limited a lot since school started up so templates have become my best friend. I like the freedom I have to add to and take away but a general design start helps me generate ideas that I would miss otherwise.

I’ll have some more layouts to share later, probably tomorrow. I’m enjoying a little quiet scrapping time at the moment so check back to see what I get finished!

This week I haven’t done my usual blogging catch up. Sorry about that! I did get to work with some really great kits this weekend that you can check out.

First Scraps of Ellay has a new kit in her store called Diamond Lucy. It’s colorful and fun!

My layout also used a new template by Amy M Designs called Journalistic. I love love love templates and AmyM’s rock!

SuzyQ Scraps store @ Polka Dot Plum is open and she has a lot of great new kits! I had fun working with one called Roughin It.

I also got to play with a new kit by A+ Designs called Falling Again and a new template pack she has available Templistic: Peace.

Doesn’t that make you want to just jump in a pile of leaves and have fun? I also used my first attempt and creating my own text on a path for the title It came out pretty well, but I’ve got a lot to learn.

Dani Moy has a new grab bag out @ ESS with 5 products in it for $3.00. I’ve gotten a look at it and I would run to get it while it’s in the grab bag. Just one of the products alone is worth the $3.00.

I hope you found a little inspiration. Looking at my Fall layout is making me wish for cooler weather. Can you believe that October is just around the corner? Time is flying by.

I hope you liked the papers you got yesterday. Thank you to the ones of you who have left a comment. I have been so nervous about the release of this kit! Your sweet words mean a lot to me.

I am ready for the fall. I loved playing in the leaves as a child. My Dad would rake these huge piles of leaves up in our yard and I remember running and jumping into them. Of course, I would come away itchy as everything but it was so much fun! My oldest two children have shown that same affinity for jumping into piles of leaves. Unfortunately where we live the trees aren’t big enough to create huge piles of leaves for them to play in. They might be that big by the time we have grandchildren but not if we don’t plant some trees in our back yard soon. LOL

No, my children get their fix of leaf pile jumping when we visit my DH’s sister in Arkansas. Every time we go my kids have a blast raking leaves and playing in the piles. I now know to take an extra change of clothes for them when we visit so they can take a quick bath and change into less “itchy” clothes for the trip home. Can’t deny them the fun though. Besides I get some great photos!

This kit was perfect for scrapping some of those photos. I used some of all three parts of the collab for this layout as well as a template by Dani Moy Designs called Nameless available at ESS.

It’s Wednesday night already?

Well, Monday morning wasn’t so bad. My DS was thrilled to be at school and I was too busy all day to worry about him (much). However I had a mommy’s worst nightmare when his bus arrived at my school and he wasn’t on the bus. Long story, but basically the driver looked at the address on the my son’s bus tag (not the huge extra large black printing that said he was going to my school!) and refused to take him. Never mind that the information was there staring him in the face. Never mind that the address was for a different town – so obviously no bus goes there. All this happened in front of the superintendent of the school district too. Needless to say the bus company reps have been extremely nice to me for the past two days and the driver has taken very good care of my little boy since then.

My son however was awesome. He just did what the adults told him to do. He said he wasn’t scared because he knew I would come get him but he was sad because he had been looking forward to riding the bus. Now that he’s rode the hot bus for two days I think he wishes he didn’t have to ride the bus from one school to another.

I did have time last weekend to play with an awesome new kit by Dani Moy Designs called Dot Dot Dot. I used it for a speed scrap at ESS and much to my surprise this layout was chosen as LOTD! I am so flattered!

It’s late and I’m falling asleep typing this so I guess I need to call it a night especially since 5:30 comes so early for this non-morning person. Thanks for dropping by! Leave me a little message and I’ll swing by your blog.

As some of you read this I’ll be back at work with a bunch of new students walking through my door. I am finally at the point where I’m excited about starting a new year. When I wasn’t feeling that way a week ago I was worried. I think it was the combination of knowing I’m going to miss spending a lot of time with my own children, knowing I’m going to miss chatting as often with several scrapping friends (live for the weekend right?), and still recovering from a tough year last year. But on Thursday night it hit me full force. All it took was seeing a few of my returning 2nd graders who all ran up and gave me a big hug while their parents looked on (some with a confused look as to say “Who is this woman my child is hugging?”) and then hearing the kids turn and say “This is my music teacher!”

Their excitement must have been contagious because even though it was a 13 hour day I went home with a smile on my face and a song in my heart. Tomorrow I get to start meeting all my new 1st grade kiddos and relearn all my 2nd graders names. 704 at last count, but this year is going to be a good year. Now will one of you remind me of that when I post tomorrow night about crying through the first hour or so of my day because I had to walk my little boy to his Kindergarten class and LEAVE him? Where did time go?

Now on to the scrapping part of this post…you knew there was suppose to be that right? Scraps of Ellay has a new kit going straight to her store today called Guinevere’s Beauty. I had a great time working with this kit and I think you will too.

I have some other layouts to share a little later in the week. This week will still be kind of on the slow side because we’re all trying to settle into our school routine but don’t give up on me. I’ve been working on something really cool and it’ll be coming your way pretty soon!

I’m still here! Barely. Last week I had to enter the work world again with school starting back up. This week is crazy busy and I’ve let some things sneak up one me. Once school and my family life settles into a routine I’ll be able to get back to a more regular blog post schedule.

Here’s a layout I did with this kit. My little girl isn’t so little anymore. While we were at the lake the last time this summer I was able to catch her just gazing out across the water. At that time I wondered just what she was thinking about. She looked so at peace, something hard to come by anymore.

Hidden blessings

Sad to say it’s my last free Friday for a long time. Yes, summer is over and it’s time to get back into the school routine. I’m going to miss my off and on days of scrapping. I think this has taken on a whole life of it’s own.

I’m feeling a little nostalgic today, not about school starting exactly, but then again, maybe it is in a way. Something just hit me as I started this post. Last night I just happened to check my email right before heading off to bed and there was a message informing me that someone wanted to be added as a friend on Facebook. Facebook is one of those things I had put off as long as I could but found to be necessary recently. I didn’t recognize the name and thought I would just go on for a minute to check them out and send a note if needed (long boring story behind that). Anyway, I checked on the person’s profile to see if I could figure out the link to how this person knew me. Her profile photo looked familiar but I wasn’t sure and the name, the name just didn’t ring a bell! All the sudden I realized who it was! She was my very best friend in elementary school. We were inseparable from Kindergarten until 5th grade. We had kept in touch through High School but then our adult lives took us in different direction.

It was just by accident that we reconnected. Amazing really. We started chatting last night, catching up on life, 17 years worth. It was an emotional time for both of us, right now I’m tearing up just thinking about it. But the point I’m trying to make is this. You may only be in a person’s life for a moment, a minute, an hour, or a lifetime. Those moments, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years all mean something. Make the most of them. You never know what impact you will have on their lives.

I’ve met some amazing women through this world of digi-scrap. Many of you I consider great friends. You have touched my life in many ways. For some of you this time may be fleeting, with some of you this may be a lifetime journey of incredible friendship. To all of you I want to say, “Thank you for being who you are. I am glad our paths have crossed and may they cross many many more times. May God richly bless each and everyone of you.”

Be a light in someone’s life. You’ll get a blessing from it, I promise.

Templates are my best friend

Sometimes you just need a little push to get you going. When that happens I turn to my stash of fabulous templates. AmyM Designs @ SDD is the template queen. Last month I got to be a guest on her CT and I loved every minute of it! You’ve seen a lot of the layouts I did with her great templates but I have a whole lot more. I can’t share some of them quite yet (hurry up Polka Dot Plum and open already!!) but here is a layout I just finished up the other day using one of her templates that she’s giving away this month at SDD in the Daily Download thread.

Scraps of Ellay has a new kit inspired by the musical Grease. I’ve been working with this kit for the past couple of weeks because I made her a new blinkie with it and then you’ve probably noticed that all her CT is sporting a new matching blinkie too. I had so much fun making the blinkies.

Then I got caught up in using her kit for a few challenges around digi-land. It was just the perfect kit to match two of the scrap-a-thon challenges at ESS last weekend.

Then I used it for a Speed Scrap this week at STS.

Another kit I worked with last week was a collab by Dani Moy Designs and TrishH Designs called Color My World: Eggplant. It is a stunning kit!
